iBike Community Cycle Skills Programme

Learning to ride a bike is a life skill like swimming.

iBike is the Selwyn District's cycle skills education programme.

In partnership with the Selwyn Sports Trust and based on the BikeReady framework, this brand new initiative will be rolled out across primary school's in the Selwyn district from spring 2022.

Children participating in the programme will learn safe cycling skills, how to ride with confidence and basic road rules.

Our aim is to inspire young tamariki to enjoy cycling and understand the benefits of active recreation around Selwyn, whilst also striving to reduce vehicles on Selwyn roads.

The programme includes:

  • Cycle maintenance and helmet fitting
  • Basic cycling skills
  • Road rules
