How do we protect and enhance our natural heritage?

We’re looking for your support in growing a strategy to protect, restore and enhance Selwyn’s unique biodiversity.

Biodiversity describes everything living on land, in fresh water and the sea; and encapsulates the diversity of all flora and fauna. In Waikirikiri Selwyn we have a unique blend of biodiversity not seen anywhere else.

How should we work with the community and landholders and where should we prioritise to protect, restore and enhance this unique heritage?

Our plan, with goals and actions to do this is set out in the Selwyn Biodiversity Strategy, which is out for your feedback until 7pm Friday 15 December.

To help, our biodiversity team is holding three drop-ins next week for you to talk with the team and ask any questions.

The three drop-ins will be held at:

Leeston Library, 3–7pm 12 December.

Darfield Library, 3–7pm 13 December

Council Rolleston Offices, 3–7pm 14 December
