Shands Hamptons intersection

Work continues on the Shands Road intersections upgrade project which will include the construction of two new roundabouts at Shands and Hamptons Road and Shands and Trents Road in Prebbleton.

In addition to the current  traffic management in place, the following changes will take affect from Monday 15 April.

Shands Road Moving to One-Way

For approximately 4 weeks, Shands Road between Hamptons Road and Blakes Road will be one-way heading north towards Hornby. Detours will be in place down Blakes Road for southbound traffic (heading away from Hornby).

This work involves the installation of a new watermain between Blakes Road and Trents Road, hedge removal and tie-ins to the new road alignment at the intersection of Hamptons and Shands Road.

Trents Road (East) One-Way Direction Change

For approximately 2 weeks, the current one-way traffic management system on Trents Road (between Shands and Springs Roads), will change direction and flow towards Shands Road to reduce overall traffic impacts. There will be entry only onto Trents Road from Springs Road. Farthing Drive will also be closed at the intersection with Trents Road during this time.

This work involves the installation of a new watermain and road widening.

Trents Road (West) Moving to One-Way

From Monday 15 April, for approximately 4 weeks, Trents Road (west) at the intersection with Shands Road will be moving one-way, with no entry onto Shands Road.

This work will include the removal of hedges and the installation of new water pipe racing.

Hamptons Road (West) Moving to Two-Way

Hamptons Road (west) at the intersection with Shands Road is now open to two-way traffic for the duration of the 4 weeks that Shands Road is one-way to help alleviate traffic impacts on the network.

Please follow all detours and take care around the works area. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we undertake this essential work to ensure the safety of all road users.
