Council Services and Facilities Holiday Hours

Here is a summary of Selwyn District Council services and opening hours during the holiday period.
The Council’s Rolleston Offices will be closed from 5pm Wednesday 24 December, reopening 8.30am
Monday 5 January.
Rubbish and recycling collections for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day (both falling on a Thursday this year),
will be the Saturday following (27 December instead of 25 December and 3 January instead of 1 January).
Pines Resource Recovery Park will be closed Christmas Day (25 December) and New Year’s Day (1 January). Open standard opening hours of 9am–4.30pm for the rest of the holiday period. The ReUse shop will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. It will be open for its normal hours Wednesday-Sunday all other days.
All Selwyn Libraries and Service Centres are closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. They will be open all other days during the holiday period from 10am-4pm, except for Sunday 28 December, when Darfield and Leeston Library and Service Centres will be closed. Normal hours will resume from 3 January.
Selwyn Sports Centre will be closed 1pm Wednesday 24 December, reopening with normal hours from Monday
5 January.
Selwyn Aquatic Centre will be closed 25 and 26 December, 1 and 2 January. It will be open 6am-6pm Wednedsday 24
December and 8am-6pm Wednesday 31 December and open 8am-8pm all other days.
Darfield and Southbridge Community Pools will be closed 25 and 26 December, and 1 January. Darfield pool will be
open 7am-6pm on 24 December, 11am-6pm 31 December and 11am-7pm all other days. Southbridge Pool will be open
1-6pm 24 December and 31 December and 1-7pm all other days.
All pools return to their normal hours from Monday 5 January.
Animal Control Services are available, operating 24 hours, 7 days a week.
Building Inspections last day for booked building inspections will be Monday 22 December. Bookings will resume on Monday 5 January (under the Building Act the statutory clock stops on 20 December and restarts on 10 January, meaning that those days don’t count as working days. Customers can continue to lodge applications 24/7 as normal).
