Slide into Easter with ChillFest
Selwyn’s coolest new event is coming this Easter.
The first ever Easter ChillFest will see an artificial ice rink and much more at the Selwyn Sports Centre from 3–6 April, bringing a fresh way to enjoy the long weekend.
“We wanted to bring something fresh and new for people to enjoy over the holiday weekend. It’s an idea that one of our team has had for a few years to bring an ice-rink to Selwyn, and it’s grown from there into a huge range of things being offered for people to experience something new and have a great family time,” Council Head of Sport and Recreation James Richmond says.
The artificial rink is less slippery than a traditional rink, designed to be accessible for all ages and experience levels to get active and enjoy. A wide range of activities are also available from giant inflatables for children aged one to 15 in the Inflatable Zone, a mini indoor market on Saturday 4 April, and lots more for everyone to enjoy across the weekend.
“It’s going to be good time to just come down to the Sports Centre and hang out. There will be an easter egg hunt and craft tables; the rest of the Sports Centre is open for casual use and we’ve got Foster Park right there with the playgrounds and sports fields,” James says.
ChillFest marks the start of a packed programme of events over the April school holidays. To book in for ChillFest or find more events visit selwyn.govt.nz/chillfest.
