Termination of the declaration of the state of emergency for the Selwyn District
Due to the improving weather situation Mayor Sam Broughton in consultation with the local and CDEM Group Controller, and National and Emergency Management Advisor, has terminated the declaration of the state of emergency for the Selwyn District at 3pm, today.
In taking this step, we understand that there are still people in the district who are coping with the effects of flooding on their properties. This includes those in both our townships and our rural areas. Not being in a state of emergency does not reduce our commitment to support those who have been directly affected.
We will continue to respond to requests for assistance over the weekend and into the next week.
As we move to recovery from this weather event, we and our partner agencies will support those that require it as the journey for some could take some time.
We are grateful for the continued support of our community and the response and actions they have taken during this weather event. Responding to emergencies is always a whole of community effort.
We are aware that some of our roads are still affected by this weather event so please drive carefully.
