Partner Responsibilities & Expectations
To join the programme, you must:
- Hold a valid LBP licence/registration for at least 3 years.
- Work within your LBP licence or relevant registration limits.
- Have a good track record with us; including:
- Good quality applications.
- Correct documentation order
- Low numbers of RFIs.
- Good inspection results (if you design and build).
- Have no recent building industry practitioner concerns or issues on our records in last 2 years.
- Work with professional engineers who also meet PPP standards (assessed as part of your application review).
Partner commitment and engagement
Being a partner means more than just meeting the rules. You also need to take an active role in the programme.
What we expect
You should:
- Keep us informed, for example:
- Upcoming workload.
- Anything unusual.
- Staffing and contact changes.
- Follow the application requirements every time.
- Submit applications with few RFIs.
- Have few serious inspection issues.
- Stay up to date with legislative and council changes.
- Submit most of your building consents through PPP.
If we think you’re not meeting expectations:
- We’ll contact you to understand what’s going on and see how we can help.
- We may monitor your participation over an agreed period.
Ongoing expectations
As a partner, you agree to:
- Keep all relevant LBP and trade people details up to date:
- email buildingPPP@selwyn.govt.nz, or
- talk to your dedicated contact person.
- Continue meeting PPP requirements.
- Share feedback and ideas to improve the programme.
- Keep up with industry changes and new technology.
- Make sure all work meets the Building Act and building code requirements and:
- Is safe for people to use.
- Protects people’s health, physical independence, and well-being.
- Allows people to escape safely in a fire.
- Supports sustainable building practices.
