Deans Road Water Race
What's happening
From Monday 16 November to Friday 22 January the water race along Deans Road will be renewed.
The water race on Deans Road crosses the Hawkins River through a pipe that runs under the riverbed next to the bridge. The existing pipe needs replacing which involves installing a new pipe buried below the riverbed, removing the old pipes and reinstating the riverbed. Renewing this crossing will help keep water flowing reliably to the wider Malvern water race network.
Work in the riverbed is expected to take around one week, and we'll be taking care to protect fish and wildlife in the river throughout.
Traffic Impacts
- Temporary traffic lights will be in place from mid-November to mid-December.
- Deans Road will be closed for three consecutive days in mid-December; signs will be in place seven days before the road closure is implemented. Please follow the signposted detour
- A temporary speed limit of 30km/h will be in place around the work site to keep everyone safe.
