The Fund's purpose is to support individuals and teams’ representation at events, to reduce barriers to participation for individuals, and/or support the development of those who actively contribute to the wellbeing of their community.

Outcomes of the Fund

  • Individuals or teams selected to represent their school, club or community at a local, regional, national, or international event or competition (including sporting, cultural, or community events) are supported to participate.
  • Individuals actively engaged in community service and contributing to the overall wellbeing of their community are supported to participate in growth and development opportunities.
  • Individuals with barriers* to participating in community life are supported to participate.

*Barriers faced by an individual which hinders their ability to participate in community life - for example, socio economic circumstances, disability, neurodiversity, health/mental health barriers, etc.


Guidance for Applicants

When applying to the Individuals and Teams Fund, please include information in your application that helps the Community Funding Assessment Panel understand:

  • any barriers you face to participating in community life; and
  • how you contribute to the Selwyn district and its communities.

The Community Funding Assessment Panel may place emphasis on aspects of the criteria when assessing applications.

All funding decisions are made in accordance with the criteria set out in the C213 Community Grants Policy and related Funding Schedule.

Applications that are submitted after the closing dates listed above will not be considered for the current funding round.

Late applications will instead be carried forward and reviewed during the next funding round.

Decisions will be made within two months of the funding round closing date.

Please note: The C213 Community Funding Policy applies to applications. Retrospective costs (expenses for initiatives completed before the funding round closes) cannot be funded.

Funding Amounts
  • Individuals – Up to $200
  • Teams and Clubs (2 members or less) – Up to $400
  • Teams and Clubs (3 members or more) – Up to $500

Criteria

All eligibility criteria and details can be found in the Individuals and Teams Fund Funding Schedule.

Who can apply
  • Individuals: Can apply directly for funding.
  • Teams: Applications must be submitted by the affiliated club, school, or community organisation on behalf of the team. Individual team members, coaches or team managers cannot apply directly.

A team application must come from the team or the club/school/community that the team belongs to. Schools, not-for-profit early childhood education, and not-for-profit tertiary education can be funded, but only for initiatives that are not part of the core education mandate funded by central government.

Each school can receive a maximum of five Individuals and Teams Fund grants per calendar year.

What can be funded?
  • Costs towards:
  • events that individuals or teams are either competing in or being the representative at
  • costs towards growth and development opportunities,

Including:

  • Entry/registration fees
  • Travel
  • Accommodation
What can't be funded

In addition to Section 6.7 and 6.8 of the C213 Community Funding Policy:

  • Uniforms
  • Food or refreshments
  • Personal expenses
Terms and Conditions

In addition to the Criteria as in Section 3 and Section 6 of the C213 Community Funding policy:

  • Applicants must be a resident of Waikirikiri Selwyn.
  • If representing a school, team or community at a local, regional, national or international event or competition, evidence of selection or qualification must be attached to the application.
  • If representing a school, team or community, evidence must be provided of endorsement from your local affiliated club/school.
  • Late applications will be held over until the next meeting.

Application limits:

  • Each individual or team can receive a maximum of one Individuals and Teams Fund grant per calendar year.
  • Each school can receive a maximum of five Individuals and Teams Fund grants per calendar year.
