About the private plan change

On 15 December 2020 Dunweavin 2020 Limited lodged a private plan change request with Council. The request seeks to change the Operative Selwyn District Plan by rezoning approximately 13 hectares of rural land to residential land. This would enable approximately 155 residential sites.

About the Variation - further submission consultation has now closed

Summary of submissions on the mandatory variations to the Proposed Selwyn District Plan and various private plan changes was notified on 7 November 2022.

The further submission period closed at 5pm Friday 18 November 2022.

Background

On 20 August the Council notified Variation 1 to Plan Change 76 to the Operative District Plan. This variation is required by the Government’s new building intensification rules to allow for more housing and at greater heights in relevant residential areas.

The submission period was open until 16 September 2022.

Update 6 April 2022

At its meeting on 23 March 2022, the Council considered the recommendation of the Commissioner in respect of the plan change request. Council resolved at this meeting to accept the Commissioner's recommendation on Plan Change 76 as its formal decision, and approve the plan change request. This decision will be publicly notified on 6 April 2022, providing an opportunity for parties involved in Plan Change 76 to lodge an appeal against the decision. A Commissioner has been appointed and a hearing is to be held at the Selwyn Sports Centre, 70 Broadlands Drive, Rolleston on 1st November 2021 to consider the application.
