We want to hear from users of the Foster Dog Park and residents in the area about a request to extend the days the Selwyn Dog Club can use the park.

The Selwyn Dog Club has leased an area of the park for training since 2009. The current lease terms allow the club to use a section of the park for training on four days a week — Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights 6.30–9pm and a two-hour class on Sunday mornings. The club is also allowed to have exclusive use of the dog park to host competitions for a maximum of 12 days a year.

The club has requested to add an additional training class on Monday nights between 6.30–9pm. The club intends to reduce class sizes to allow trainers to better manage classes and improve parking, both in the car park and the surrounding area. The remainder of the dog park would remain open for use during this time.

The Council is taking feedback from park users and residents who live in the area about the proposal. You can have your say until 2 June.
