Fire and Emergency New Zealand has advised that there is an extreme risk of fire today, and likely through to the weekend, due to high temperature and low humidity.

Do not light outdoor fires.

Do not mow your lawns and grass verges/paddocks today or do anything that could ignite a fire. Please delay mowing lawns until cooler days. The fire risk is present in forest and scrub areas as well as in those areas where grasses are brown and dry. Please ensure that you take extra care and limit any potential for a fire to start.
