A platter of salad, bread and a baked brie from Memorys Restaurant

The most delicious dishes of the district will be celebrated in May with the return of Taste Selwyn.

The month-long food celebration will see 16 of Selwyn eateries working with local suppliers to create special dishes made from the freshest Selwyn produce.

From venison ribs to baked brie, salmon salad, breads to Biryani or a Big Selwyn Breakfast there is something for everyone; featuring the finest locally crafted or grown grains and vegetables, eggs, fish and meat. People are invited to take part in letting the world know about their local dining experience by sharing a photo of your dish on Facebook or Instagram using #tasteselwyn.

It will also see foodies offered the chance once again to learn the tips and tricks of the top chefs and create art inspired by the best of Selwyn’s dishes.

This year’s events will include lessons on gluten free cooking, tasters for teens, wine and food pairing, or cooking Indian cuisine with a Selwyn twist of seasonal vegetables and creamy Ayelsbury milk. There will also be workshops on how nutrition can improve your mental health through to learning the art of watercolour painting with Selwyn artist Soon-Lee Spicer while eating delicious Taste Selwyn fare.

You can even attend a stamp carving workshop with inspiration from locally baked goods, shared at the completion of the workshop.

Find the dishes available and get eating, or book tickets to an event.
