The first croquet grounds in Selwyn are now under development at Broadfield Reserve on Robinsons Road, opposite Broadfield School.

This project, identified as part of Council's Long-term Plan, is now underway with construction in progress to create four croquet lawns.

Council's Land Development Project Manager Gareth Ford said “we’re really pleased to have started work on this project. The development highlights the Council's commitment to enhancing recreational facilities for Selwyn residents.”

These lawns will serve as the home grounds for the newly established Broadfield Croquet Club. John Dewar, representing Broadfield Croquet Club, said he was delighted that the physical works were underway.

“The response and support we’ve had from Council has been fantastic. Croquet provides a great opportunity to stay fit, acquire new skills, and socialise with like-minded individuals. Having a local club in our district will be a great asset for our community”.

Scheduled for completion in February 2024, the croquet lawns will be ready for action in the Spring 2024 season. If you would like to be part of the Broadfield Croquet Club in the 2024 season, expressions of interest can be emailed to broadfieldcroquet@gmail.com.
