Mayor Sam and Family

I love Christmas for the tradition and carols, scorched almonds and the start of a summer break. Our amazing district has such a diverse mosaic of cultures, traditions and stories that enrich our neighbourhoods.

No matter what your background Christmas is something for all of us. Whether it’s a simple public holiday to spend time with your friends and whānau or to connect in a church and the meaning of Christmas. I hope over the next month you get some time to slow things down and spend quality time with people you love and reflect on the year gone and the year that will be.

Waikirikiri Selwyn has so much to offer in the summer, Liz, Elliott, and I will be taking some time to enjoy the warmer weather and find or revisit some favourite spots for a dip in one of our rivers. We wish you and your family and friends a very safe, restful and merry Christmas.
