Water services are now back on in the Faringdon subdivision and surrounding affected areas.

The Selwyn District Council was made aware of a loss of supply at around 9.30 on 16 July.

The service was fully operational by around 3pm Monday 16 July.

While the water was restored, the Council is provided a tanker with potable water, which was available from around 1.30pm on 16 July, opposite the Faringdon playground at the corner of Shillingford Boulevard and Faringdon Boulevard.

A planned shutdown had been scheduled for 16 July in part of Faringdon, to carry out planned water upgrades. Residents in the planned affected area (Goulds Roads, Oak Tree lane and Kakapo Place) had been notified by letter box drops on Thursday (12 July) last week.

Unfortunately the shutdown affected a larger area than was anticipated. We estimate around 1000 households could have been without water for a period of time.

Residents were also able to fill water containers at the Rolleston Community Centre, Selwyn Aquatic Centre and at the Selwyn District Council on Norman Kirk Drive, while their supply was interrupted.
