14 people stand behind a wall holding up paintings

On the hallway walls of the Lincoln Event Centre, artwork from emerging artists can be viewed and purchased.

These artworks have been proudly crafted by members of the Art Group of Lincoln, who meet twice a month at the Lincoln Event Centre.

Formed in 2003, this group now has 30 members aged 35 to 96 and is open to anyone interested in art, who drop in to sessions funded through the Council’s Creative Communities Scheme.

During the sessions, members gather to have dedicated time to focus on their passion for art, while connecting with like-minded individuals and learning from art tutors.

Treasurer, Faye White says the group would not exist without the funding, which supports their use of the Lincoln Event Centre and the Prebbleton Community Cottage and booking art tutors. “It has been very much appreciated. The fund has allowed us to progress from being beginners to feeling confident enough to exhibit our work.”

Group member Annie Hofmeester joined six months ago and says it is the perfect way to spend her day off work.

“It just allows people to come and be who they are and be creative and have that social connection that is really important.”
