With just over a week to go until voting opens in the 2022 local elections, it’s time to get to know the candidates in Selwyn.

Voting packs will be delivered to all enrolled voters from 16 September. The election is held by postal vote, and voting papers must be received by the Council before 12 midday Saturday 8 October.

Voting packs include a booklet with profile statements from all candidates – or you can find these on the Council’s elections web pages .

Electoral ward boundaries have changed since 2019, so it’s a good idea to check which ward you’re in and who the candidates are. Details and an interactive ward map are on the elections web pages.

Meet the candidate public meetings

Public ‘Meet the Candidate’ meetings are usually held across Selwyn during the election  period. These are not organised by the Council. Anyone organising public meetings open to all candidates, can forward event details to electoral.officer@selwyn.govt.nz and we will endeavour to list these in Council Call and on our elections web pages.
Upcoming candidate public meetings:

  • Rolleston Ward: Wednesday 7 September 7.30pm, Rolleston Community Centre
  • Malvern Ward: Wednesday 14 September 7.30pm, Darfield Recreation Centre
