Two lanterns in the shape of frogs sitting on lily pads float on a pond at night alongside lit up flower lanternsFour Chinese lantern scenes will be lighting up libraries around Selwyn this week and at the Council headquarters in Rolleston.

The lanterns, which are being installed on this week, have been put up to mark the start of Chinese New Year on Saturday (25 January).

The lanterns, which make up large scenes of animals and people, will be in place for two weeks for people to enjoy.

Selwyn Libraries will also be hosting Chinese New Year story times from Monday 3 February to Wednesday 5 February with interactive stories, songs and dances. For more information visit the Selwyn libraries website.
