Faces of Selwyn on Air features stories about the lives of Selwyn residents who have come from different cultures around the world and now call Selwyn home.

Last year the podcast series explored international flavours, as each participant shared their favourite dish from their culture.

Participant Agnes Abuel Guda shared her delicious pork sinigang recipe, the perfect dish for a cold day.
“Every Filipino dish has a story and for us Filipinos, food is a joyful celebration, seen on each plate we serve and the food we cook. It is that happy celebration that I wanted to share with others. It was also a moment for me to come out and showcase our distinct culture, something that I am truly proud of.”

Agnes said she not only enjoyed sharing her dish and Filipino culture, but as a passionate cook and food fanatic, she enjoyed learning about other cultures and their favourite recipes.
“It was truly a humbling experience to be part of Faces of Selwyn last year and to tell my migrant story, as well as to talk with pride about one of Filipino’s favourite dishes. It gave me great pleasure to share our recipe, to be able to let others experience, taste and enjoy our dish. I know that many Filipinos were able to relate to that dish too.”

Participant Farin Nisa said she was really touched by the amount of people who tried her peda recipe and was glad she got share her journey to Selwyn.
