The Castle Hill Village Community Centre has recently reopened and is available again for bookings.
In March this year the hall was upgraded with a small building extension and fire and accessibility improvements.
It was open just in time for the Arthur’s Pass and Castle Hill Community Response Team volunteers to provide their warm hospitality to 45 people who had an unexpected stay in Arthur’s Pass and Castle Hill, when State Highway 73 was shut for snow on Sunday 18 August.
The hall kept these people warm, while accommodation was being sorted.
The hall was originally built in 1999, but since then the Castle Hill community has seen reasonable growth, which now requires a larger facility for gatherings and for emergency management activities.
