Applications for the first round of funding from the new Selwyn Community Fund close at the end of October.

The Selwyn Community Fund was established earlier this year to support events and other activities that help make Selwyn a great place, and contribute to community wellbeing, bringing communities together and attracting visitors to the district.

Happy The fund brings together the former Community Events Fund along with new funds, under a new contestable funding application process.

Community Relations Manager Denise Kidd says one of the important ways the Council helps to build strong communities is by supporting groups and organisations that contribute to community wellbeing.  “The Selwyn Community Fund is a valuable way for the Council to support community groups doing exciting, positive things in our district,” she says. “We’ve been pleased to be able to boost the pool of funding available, and hopefully assist more groups.”

The fund is open to any recognised organisations whose principle functions or activities are of a charitable (not-for-profit) nature.

The goals of the Selwyn Community Fund include increasing participation and engagement in community life, celebrating Selwyn’s uniqueness, building community capacity, promoting opportunities for volunteering, encouraging initiatives that build neighbourliness and community spirit.

Applications for the Selwyn Community Fund are open year round, with funding allocated in two rounds each year. Round one closes on Wednesday 31 October.

Full details on eligibility and criteria, along with an online application form can be found on the Selwyn Community Fund page.
