With the warm weather here and the roads quieter over the holidays, our crews are out making the most of the good conditions for doing infrastructure works.

Below is a list of some of the Council works over January and February. Please follow all site signage and directions and be patient with our road workers as they work hard for all of us.

Detours will be in place for all these works. For a full list of road closures and road works view our road closures map at selwyn.govt.nz/roadclosures.

Aylesbury Road and Burnham Road intersection with SH1
From 9 January–19 February Aylesbury Road will be open to traffic one-way northbound from 6am-7pm and closed from 7pm–6am and during weekends.

From late January Burnham Road will be one-way southbound from SH1 to 285 Burnham Road. This work is to allow a drinking water main to be installed under SH1 and the rail line.

Blakes RoadFrom 4–20 January Blakes Road will be closed from Springs Road to Elmwood Drive, for watermain upgrades. The Springs Road/Blakes Road/ Stationmasters Way roundabout will have temporary traffic lights in place. Blakes Road will reopen to two-way traffic from 20 January 2023. Traffic management will remain on Blakes Road while the work is completed.

Broadlands DriveFrom 9–26 January Broadlands Drive will be open to traffic one-way northbound (towards the town centre and SH1) between Lowes Road and Goulds Road. From 27–30 January Broadlands Road will be closed. A detour will be in place by Lowes Road, East Maddisons Road and Goulds Road. These works are for roading upgrades and improving safe access to Clearview Primary School.

Markham WayFrom 3–31 January Markham Way will be open one-way northbound (from Tennyson Street towards Norman Kirk Drive), while a new shared cycle and pedestrian path is built and safety upgrades are made.

Shands RoadFrom 9–30 January Shands Road will be one-way southbound between Robinsons Road and Tancreds Road for repairs.
Springston Rolleston Road

From 9–26 January Springston Rolleston Road will be open to traffic one-way southbound from Lowes Road to Delapre Drive.

From 27 January to 24 February Springston Rolleston Road will be one-way southbound from Broadlands Drive to Delapre Drive.
This work is for upgrades to the road surface, services and to improve safe access to Rolleston College.

Weedons Road
From 11–31 January Weedons Road will be closed from Ellesmere Junction Road to Shands Road for resurfacing and repairs.
