Here is a summary of Selwyn District Council services and opening hours during the 2020/2021 Christmas and New Year holiday period.

Council headquarters in Rolleston will be closed from 12 midday Thursday 24 December, reopening 8.30am Tuesday 5 January.

Rubbish and recycling collections scheduled on Friday 25 December will take place on Saturday 26 December. Collections scheduled on Friday 1 January will take place on Saturday 2 January. All other collection days will proceed as normal.

Pines Resource Recovery Park is closed both Friday 25 December and Friday 1 January. Standard opening hours operate for the rest of the holiday period (9am–4.30pm).

West Melton Community and Recreation Centre is closed from Monday 21 December. Rolleston Community Centre, Lincoln Event Centre and Tai Tapu Community Centre are closed from midday on Thursday 24 December. All centres will reopen on Monday 11 January.

All Selwyn Libraries and service centres will be closed from 12 midday on Thursday 24 December. They will all be closed on public holidays: Friday 25 December, Saturday 26 December, Monday 28 December Friday 1 January, Saturday 2 January and Monday 4 January.
All libraries and service centres will be open 10am–4pm Tuesday 29 December, Wednesday 30 December and Thursday 31 December.
Lincoln Library and Service Centre and Rolleston Library will also be open 10am–4pm Sunday 27 December and Sunday 3 January.
All libraries and service centres will resume normal hours from Tuesday 5 January.

Selwyn Aquatic Centre will be closed on public holidays: Friday 25 December, Saturday 26 December and Friday 1 January.
It will be open 6am–6pm on Thursday 24 December, 8am–6pm Thursday 31 December, 8am–8pm from 27–30 December and 2–4 January.
Normal hours resume from Tuesday 5 January.

Darfield and Southbridge pools will be closed Friday 25 December, Saturday 26 December and Friday 1 January.
Sheffield Pool will be closed on Friday 25 December, Saturday 26 December, Friday 1 January and Saturday 2 January.
All three will be open normal hours (1–7pm) on all other days.

Animal Control services are available, operating 24 hours 7 days a week.

The last full day of building inspections will be on Tuesday 22 December. Normal hours resume from Tuesday 5 January
