A new sports-based holiday programme will be back for the next school holidays after leaving children and parents buzzing.

The Selwyn Sports Centre ran its first ever holiday programme over the week of 25 - 28 January with 45 children aged 7-12 enjoying a range of sports and activies from table tennis to Aussie Rules and Frisbee.

Along with trying out 11 sports over the four days, attendees also visited the Selwyn Aquatic Centre and Mega Air and enjoyed a movie to finish off.

The aim of the programme was to provide something different as a fun offering for kids and adults Selwyn Sports Centre
Manager Dave Tippett says.
“We had no idea how it was going to go, but the focus was on providing an exceptional experience and we’ve had good feedback from parents wanting kids to come back and promoting it to other parents. We know there’s a bit of gap there for sports programmes like this. We want to provide kids with the full range of sporting opportunities and some fundamental skills around a variety of different sports and games, while having fun.”

The outings and the variety kept it entertaining and had helped keep the children buzzing to come back each day.

More exciting activities have been lined up for the next holiday program from Tuesday 26 - Friday 30 April, such as heading to
clip and climb and special guests from The Fencing Institute and Elsmere rugby jumping on board.
