A celebration of spring in Selwyn is kicking off next week.

‘Meet us in the Country’ will showcase the best of rural events and lifestyle, highlighting visitor attractions around Selwyn in October and November.

The campaign covers everything from farm experiences, farmers markets, fêtes, A&P Shows, garden tours and festivals such as the Hororātā Highland Games.

It aims to highlight the best of rural life, particularly for people looking for a day out from Christchurch or the surrounding districts and Selwyn people looking to get to know their own backyard, Council Community and Facilities Group Manager Denise Kidd says.

“We know there’s always something exciting going on in our rural communities, but it’s not always well known in the wider community. The life we have from the land is the backbone of our district and community and we want to share that with people around Canterbury and encourage people in Selwyn to enjoy what we have here.”
