A slowdown in applications and hard work from the Council consents team has seen the average number of working days to process an application falling.

At the end of February the average number of working days to process an application was 22 days.

However, with numbers increasing again and March traditionally seeing high numbers of applications the Council is reminding applicants:
· Expect to see and plan for delays – we are likely to see timeframes extend out again
· Make sure your application meet our criteria
· Remember to use the professional partnership programme (PPP) partner if you’re an approved partner.

The increase in applications will put our consent team under further pressure, so we need your help to manage the workload.

The Council will also be taking a firmer approach with applications coming in. Applications not meeting the criteria on our website or which are for a subdivision that doesn’t have s223 will not be accepted. Find the criteria and how to supply it.

Consents can be fast-tacked for applications under our PPP. This programme is for approved designers and agents with applications that meet specific criteria.

Our PPP has had a slow uptake since we launched in in May 2021 and we're encouraging more businesses and designers to take up this option and get your consents fast-tracked. Find out more on how to become a partner.
