Picture of a shared patch sign and the path behindYou may have noticed more of these signs popping up on certain paths around the district. This sign shows that the path is a ‘shared path’.

A shared path is a path that can be used by pedestrians, cyclists, mobility devices and wheeled recreational devices (such as skateboards and scooters).

Shared paths are wider than a standard footpath to safely accommodate more user types. Next time you are using a shared path please be considerate of others using the path.

It is important that you look out for others, slow down, and pass with care. Cyclists should use their bell to let others know that they are approaching and all users should keep left unless passing, to give other users space.
