Farmer in boiler suit standing next to a milking shedThe Proposed District Plan matters for all of us, because it makes a difference to how we live, work and play in Selwyn into the future.

We want to hear from you about the proposed changes, but we also want to help you understand how it might affect you. We’re holding drop-in sessions where you can speak directly with a planner about any questions you may have.

The District Plan sets the rules around much of what you and your neighbours can do on land across the district, future development and preserving our heritage and environment.

It covers everything from building a house or extension, or starting a business, to our environment and heritage, what trees are protected, and whether your house is at risk of flooding or liquefaction.

You can read the summary consultation document Because it matters and find out how to make a submission at Council libraries and service centres, or online. Or search your address on the planning map and see how the rules affect your property. The plan is open for submissions until 5pm Friday 11 December.
