A crowd of people gathered next to a garden area in a reserveThere was a great community turn out as the Council and West Melton Community came together to replant areas of Preston Downs reserve in native plants.

The planting day last week was arranged after the West Melton Resident’s Association contacted the Council, with the Council and Corde supplying the plants and guidance on planting. A large group of willing volunteers planted around 500 plants in two
hours across the area. Council Reserves Operations Manager Jonathan Crawford says it was a great day.

“It was just fantastic. We have people turning up half an hour early and they were really passionate about the planting. It was a really positive event and testament to the West Melton community.”
