Work will start shortly to upgrade the section of Masefield Drive, Rolleston, between the vehicle entrance to the new Rolleston Square Shopping Centre and Dryden Avenue.

The work will be undertaken by the Council’s roading contractor HEB Ltd and is set to be completed by the end of February.

Chief Executive David Ward says the work will address concerns expressed about this area of road alongside the new shopping centre.

Road widening, new kerbing and a footpath will be installed along the north side of Masefield Drive, connecting from the recently completed traffic signal works at Rolleston Drive through to Dryden Avenue.

A new section of footpath will also be installed on McCaulay Street to improve safe pedestrian access to the shopping centre.

Motorists may experience some delays on Masefield Drive and caution needs to be taken in the area while the works are undertaken.
