A group of walkers walk to the right of boulders at Castle Hill

Spring is here and with it the opportunity to get out and explore more of the beautiful countryside around the district.

The annual Breeze Walking Festival is offering guided walks to discover and enjoy of some of Selwyn’s beautiful walk trails.

Four great walks throughout the district will be part of the festival from at the start of October. From a tramp to enjoy 360 degree mountain views, to a quick sneak through one of the only places in New Zealand where you can see the muted swan, or an introduction to the history of Ma¯ori pathways through the land and spectacular flora and fauna at Kura Tawhiti/Castle Hill, there’s something for all ages and interests.

The four walks are:

· Harts Creek Sneak: Tuesday 1 October

· Rakaia Gorge Experience: Thursday 3 October (fully booked)

· Kura Tawhiti/Castle Hill Treasure Walk: Tuesday 8 October

· Hogs Back Hike: Thursday 10 October (fully booked)
