Mayor Sam Broughton, Project Manager Sandrine Carrara and Site Manager Kirill Makogon inspect the construction of the Selwyn Aquatic Centre new pool. The new pool at Selwyn Aquatic Centre is one step closer to opening after the roof was completed last week.

Mayor San Broughton (above left) stopped by to check progress with Project Manager Sandrine Carrara and Site Manager Kirill Makogon from Armitage Williams.

The new 10-lane, 25-metre pool is on track to open in autumn along with the new foyer, community rooms, and changing rooms.
The aquatic centre is one of the district’s most popular facilities with people taking more than 400,000 swims every year. The new pool will greatly increase the existing capacity, with more recreational lane swimming and learn to swim space and will allow more options for water sports and spectator space.

The full expansion work, including extra recreation and community spaces, is due to be completed by spring 2021.
