Sunshine and music will come together in Selwyn this month, as the district kicks off a 'Month of Sundays'—a celebration of local musicians and bands.

The free, family friendly entertainment will be available every Sunday afternoon from 1-2.30pm throughout February, and people are encouraged to bring a picnic to sit and enjoy the show.

The performances will begin at the Lincoln Library Green on 5 February with the Ministry of Sound, who are renowned for showcasing local talent. The Canterbury Cellists will then take the stage the following weekend at the Lincoln Library, playing everything from Disney to pop and classical.

The music will move to Te Ara Ātea on 19 February for the award-winning Rolleston Brass. The 30-piece band will play a variety of music and musical styles for families to enjoy.

A Month of Sundays will have its last performance on 26 February at Te Ara Ātea with the popular trio, The Port Hillbillies playing a mixture of Bluegrass, Old Time and Americana.

The Month of Sundays is part of the district’s action-packed Summer in Selwyn programme, which features more than 60 different activities for residents to enjoy.
